Also make sure you have your annual flu shot and be current on your TB test. Some caregivers also have their pneumonia shot, their Hep B shots, and have been tested for Hep C.

If you work as an "independent contractor" make sure your patient, if they live in a house, has "workman comp" insurance in case you should injury yourself on the job. Most homeowner's insurance won't cover for "employees".

Another idea, make sure who is your client, the patient or a relative of the client, and who will be writing your check for payment. Make sure you pay your estimated quarterly income tax, or if the client will be using a payroll firm that will take out the payroll taxes.

With a family trust that equally divides the estate ,how do you cope with sibling jealously and rivalry to keep it from destroying the family's ?

Hey... Thank you so much for sharing the post. I will be joining up shortly as a caregiver for the elderly and the answer posted here is truly beneficial. Though having completed the necessary qualifications and training, I think I learned something new. Thank you once again.
