My sister is legal guardian to my mother who has dementia. She has put her in an independent living facility with 1hr of med nursing/day. My mother is being lured out of the facility by a man named as a person of concern in guardianship documents. She was lured to Fred Meyer 2 weeks ago where she fell and broke her arm. This man is still calling and trying to get her to visit him. She is supposed to remain still so she can heal. Her balance is bad and she should not leave her apartment. My sister has hired a nurse to help her shower, but she is still alone for several hours a day. This man has been banned from several properties due to stalking and coercive behavior? How can I advocate for my mother to receive the 24hr care she needs.

I think there are two issues, one as CWillie states and the second is the issue of being pestered by this stranger.

The way I'm reading this the poster disagrees with the guardian and feels that her mother isn't getting the amount of care she needs.
My advice would be to mend fences with the sister and try to work together, but I know that's not always possible. Since she is posting here I doubt they are able to sit down and discuss this like sensible adults so she needs suggestions on what more she can do.

Fred Meyers started here in Oregon a loooong time ago. Now they are in some parts of Washington and California. Several years ago they were bought out by Kroggers. Just my bit of trivia for the day - lol!

Pam, glad you posted, I was just about to contact Admin here and ask them to remove the name Fred Meyer from the post as I thought that was the guy's name. Never mind.

HelpMyMom, maybe it is time for your sister to put your Mom into Assisted Living, where the Staff has more control over who is coming in and out of the building. Independent Living is just that, independent, where the resident can come and go as they please.

I see Fred Meyer is a grocery store chain in the Northwest US. Alert them as well. They need to keep an eye on this person.

The legal Guardian has to initiate an order of protection. You can also file a complaint with the management and police. Block the man's phone number if you can.

Your sister as legal guardian can contact the police and ask for an investigation, as well as how to get a restraining order against him.
