First, is your mother competent? Who is the financial POA? What kind of abuse is going on? If your mother is competent and wants to make bad decisions and play favorites, that kind of thing, there may not be much you can do. But if Medicaid is looming in the picture, than your mother needs to consider the look back period and possible penalties for giving away money. Now, this may not apply to you, but it does happen that a parent thinks that the responsible child will step in to support them if it comes down to it, so they don't need to worry about giving money away. You may need to make it clear that you will not do this.

Thanks It is the baby of the family (shes 53) never married or had anyone in her life so she lived with or should I say off my mothers money for the past 15yrs. Mother has basically given her control over her money which she switched everything to be handled online which my mother has never been on a computer. She has helped drain all my mothers inheritance $ and my mother had to sell her house to keep them afloat, sister quit her job and wouldnt go back to work, but in the mean time my mother had open heart surgery, broke her hip and now slowly dementia is setting in and she cant remember anything so she will have to have someone around or go into a nursing home. We have confronted mother , but its her baby and she will spend her last dime and go into a state run nursing home, than do anything about my sister going thru her money, taking out payday loans in her name as well.. Can we do anthing to stop her and gain control of my mother and want finances she has left? My sister recently alienated the rest of us from our mother by telling her we are picking on her so she had all their cell phone shut off so we had no access to any new #s they will have and no house phone. She wants total control of our mother with no one interfering!
