My step father is in a hospital, he is non responsive (91 years old) now and has been in bad health for several years now. Rather then leaving him in the hospital, we would like to have the hospital move him to a hospice. How do we do that?

Does he have POA in place? What about a DNR?

Yes, he has a POA and a DNR and living will that the hospital has a copy of. We are concerned that the hospital may not discharge him until the insurance company refuses to pay for more in hospital days.

Talk with the hospital discharge planner or social worker. Your doctor may also assist in getting the ball rolling for the transition.
