Thank goodness my husbands SS goes into our joint checking account. Have not got power of attorney or anything else yet. I manage all the bills because he cannot but can still sign his name and get to the bathroom. Thank God!

This should not affect your sr property tax discount at all. And with SSI, my mother set up direct deposit into her checking account which I am POA on, and no problems there.
We have had no problems with the bank. We did file the POA with the county registrar's office, then took the banks a copy with the county registration information on it. They scanned it in and verified with county, then put my signature on the card. The checks still have mthr's name, I just sign my name, POA. Done.

All I know is I wish I never signed my name to those darn papers. It just gave my siblings a chance to "run","run like the wind"!!!!!
