My mom's ashes were sent to me for disposition but then I got arrested and in jail while the probate lawyer had gone and did inventory on my house. So now I'm out of jail I want them back but she's reluctant to give them to me because my sister wants them now. My sister had the cremains done and signed the papers that I was to receive them for disposition but now she's making it hard on me.

Find Care & Housing
Is this a battle you really need to pick? Wouldn't it be easier on everyone to let your sister do the work if she's willing to?

I'm sorry that you and your family are having so many troubles all at once. Be as gentle as you can on yourself, and I hope you'll pull through.

I expect you will need a judge to issue an order for the cremains to be released. It would be better that you could arrange to have a mediated discussion with your sister so you could hopefully both agree to the same final resting place for your mother.
