I am 5 months pregnant, and I have been taking care of my mom for 3 years. She is 100% disabled now since my belly is getting bigger. The lifting and all is taking a toll on me. My sister and I are looking for local nursing homes, but all seems to be full. I put my mom on a waiting list. I am wondering how long it will take for me to get her in there. I was told if she is in the hospital they will be able to help her. She is not sick to be in the hospital any advice please.

There are usually waiting lists for most nursing homes.

If your mom were to become sick or be injured and needed to be hospitalized you would be able to tell the hospital social worker that you can't care for her at home anymore and the social worker can usually find a bed in a nursing home if your mom's illness/injury warrants it. But hospitalization isn't a guarantee to placement in a nursing home.

You said your mom is on a list for a nursing home. Get on a few more lists. Get in touch with the social workers in these facilities and let them get acquainted with you. Try to make an appointment with them, let them put a face to the name.

Is your mom bed-bound? Are you responsible for 100% of her care? Does she live with you? Does she have dementia? Like freqflyer said, if you let us know some details it would get your more detailed responses.
