Horsegirl why wouldn't you get paid for taking care of your mom?
Keep a ledger you can pick one up from Office Depot. Keep track of all expenses and keep it close at hand so that no one thinks you are trying to steal anything. Ask your mom what she wants to pay you for taking care of her. Explain and go over all expenses with her. When you pay bills tell her what they are and ask her how much she wants to pay. By keeping the ledger there are no questions and will be no reprocussions, (my spelling is terrible).

I too have one of those sisters who doesn't want to do ANYTHING. She's kept on working like nothing has happened. I took family leave which is almost up. If my mom still needs me then I'll go out on unemployment, but I do pay myself a very small amount. My nails and hands are like brillo pads, my hair is standing all over my head, my clothes are a little worn, and my shoes are running over. But my sister is still as sharp as a tac.

But most importantly my mom is comfortable and wishes for nothing but for me to be there all of the time which I just couldn't do anymore and enlisted the services of an agency so now I have someone who goes to the house with her 3 days a week.

I just figure it won't last forever, and although it's tough, and I mean really TOUGH, it will all work out in the end. I do know who to disappear when I need to.

I hope this has helped you. Keep in touch.
