netnotes, Places that accept Medicaid accept it in payment. No one on Medicaid has much in the way of asets -- you are not allowed to keep assets on Medicaid. If you have not been telling the places you've talked to that Mom is on Medicaid, then go back through your list and reveal that. Some places have only so many spots reserved for Medicaid, and there may be waiting lists, but start the research, looking for those that accept Medicaid.

jeannegibbs. Mom is on Medicaid (formerly Medi-Cal) but because she has no assets I don't think they will pay the remainder. It is worth a shot, though. Thank you!

netnotes, I doubt you will find any place for just the SSI amount. It sounds like you need Medicaid. Call your country's Social Service department, and get the application process started now. Good luck!

Check out this site that lists facilities in Fresno county, by city, and shows whether they accept MediCal and Medicare, and also shows the number of complaints and violations they'd had in the past few years. Maybe there would be something on there worth checking into:

jeannegibbs. We have that list but there isn't a home that will take her for what she receives in social security.

Thank you for your quick response. My Mother is a facility but far away from me. I am looking to move her to Fresno so she can be close to me. My Mother has diabetes. The place she resides has a Alzheimer's care unit. They are accepting elders at this time but are located near Long Beach. If I could help you, I would. Sorry.

I just found a list of such places in my state. I found 1 in my suburb, 3 in a nearby suburb and more than a dozen in the city. Have you tried a google search for XX nursing homes medicaid, where XX is your state code?

If you're referring to any type of "Home" I wish you good luck. My mother has reached a high stage of Alzheimer's. Her care is requiring much more than the caregiver can handle. She only receives $942 social security. My sister and I are having absolutely no luck in finding a place that will take her for that amount. If you find a place please let me know.
