Once my mother began Medicaid her SS was directly routed to the nursing home. This was arranged by the business manager of the nursing home who’d also helped us with the Medicaid application process. There was never in four years any financial mistake or misuse of money

SS does not start taking money from Moms bank account. They are not involved in the agreement made with the NH. And my Moms SS was not pulled from her bank account. I signed so that the NH could become payee. After that Moms SS never hit her bank account.

If you have not been paying the NH directly (taking out what ur State allows for her Personal Needs Acct), then I bet the NH has a balance due. You need to call the office and set up something or allow them to become payee.

I'm assuming you have mom's POA? Her social security will start getting pulled directly from her bank account when you sign the paperwork with the nursing home allowing them permission to get into her bank account.
Your mom is entitled to have up to $1,600 in her bank account at any given time. Medicaid allows this. She can also have I believe $100 a month held back that is for her personal use. It does not have to go into a resident nursing home account.
If you allow the nursing home to directly withdraw funds they will take it all and not leave a cent. Not even what she is allowed to keep. Don't give them access to it. Have them send you a bill once a month that you pay. Speak to her Medicaid case worker. They'll advise you.
