What can I do to personalize Mom's walker bag?

I got one of those recylable grocery bags (the really small size) and used velcro to attach it to mom's walker in the front.

I thought about putting it in front but wondered if her legs would hit it. Mom is still new to her walker and I'm trying to watch how far her legs go into it (she's still standing WAY behind it to use it, so she does have some practice to go!).

Do a searh on the computer for bags for walkers. You will see lots of photos, descriptions, etc.

Thanks. I took a look, see quite a variety of bags, and am starting to think I won't sew it, after all. Maybe I can buy something and just embroider her name into it.

Just make sure she can see the area in front of the walker. If she can't see a threshold or step, she will trip. We also replaced the rear rubber feet on the walker with little nylon Walker Ski Glides so she would not catch them on throw rugs. Consider decorating with Shrinkins or Shrinky Dinks or other vinyl graphic materials on the tubing.

My daughter ordered a bag for my MIL to hang on her walker and had her name embroidered on it. It is really cute, polka dot top and netting for the bag...everyone knows it's her walker, what her name is and she can carry her things in it.

A little off-topic, but when we picked-up her walker, we happened to be sitting next to a display for canes - where there was just about any accessory you could imagine. I plan to look into some accessories for the walker. One big issue I can see is using it on the ice. Mom's bringing it to PT, tomorrow, so we can ask there, too.

From my experience these bags work much better on a walker that has only one horizontal bar in the front. Hard to access the back of the bag if walker has 2 bars.

Go to the craft section of your local store or go to a craft store. You can use 'glue' strips to 'sew' with, the strips go between the material and you use an iron to set the glue. It's called fusible tape and works well. You can also use fabric glue to add detail such as beads or felt designs. You can attach the bag using super heavy duty Velcro strips which cling really well. The bag doesn't have to be large. You can go to the thrift store and find a cute little girls dress, cut the top off, using fabric glue or fusible tape 'hem' where you cut and 'hem the bottom. You can use parts of the top to make the handles that will hold the bag on and use fabric glue, fusible strips or Velcro to hold the handles on and of course to loop the handles over the top bar of the walker. You can use fabric glue to write her name or use colored gems and fabric glue to spell out her name. There are many combinations you can use to decorate the bag with.
