Another thought - let her sit on a warm blanket or throw; it helps warm from the back while you're using throws, shawls, etc. for the front.

Should have written that they don't generate as much heat....

We also need to remember that older folks don't move as much as we do, so they don't generate heat.

And get and regularly use a humidifier or the air will become so dry that you'll feel even worse. Dry air literally chokes the moisture out of me and I feel like a prune. Plus dry air makes it harder to breathe, at least for me.

Hunting socks for the feet; thick double knit mittens for the hands, and thick perhaps even handmade crocheted or knitted hats for the head and ears.

Plus lots of hugs to keep her warm and let her know that she's still loved.

Warmed cider and hot chocolate if she can drink warm foods (I'm thinking of the high sugar in hot chocolate).

FF, I like your analogies of the North Pole vs. a hot rain forest!

Ruby, sometimes prescription meds can cause side effects that makes a person feel cold, such as thyroid pills. Also as we age, our internal thermostat doesn't work correctly for some people.

My parents are total opposites when it comes to the temp inside the house. Mom would be bundled up like she was living in the North Pole, and Dad would dressed like he was in a hot rain forest somewhere.

Sweaters, long underwear and knitted shawls have been a Godsend for my mom. Don't argue with her.
