Details: The hospital/rehab facility are located in Youngstown, Ohio but the patient lives in Pennsylvania. Question: Do I search for an attorney in Ohio or one in Pa.? I have no idea if there is enough evidence for a case; however, I just can’t let this experience/situation go by unnoticed....knowing that it could occur again to another senior citizen. Shameful situation that needs to be addressed.

This is hard to answer with no idea about the abuse. Geaton777’s answer re lawyers assumes that this is a civil case where you would be looking for damages. However if it is actually about sexual or physical abuse, as stated it is probably a criminal matter for the police.

Where I am, there is an organisation for senior citizens which takes a particular interest in financial abuse, particularly if linked to physical threats. If there is something similar where you are, they would be good to talk to first, and good to get advice for a lawyer who specialises in this type of matter. This care site is sometimes helpful for family who see a third party (often a paid carer or ‘girlfriend’) seeking to get hold of the elder’s assets, which is another and difficult form of abuse. If this isn't enough help, please provide more details.

Are you saying the hospital committed financial abuse against you/someone? If so you will need to pay for a consult with an elder law attorney and come with as much actual evidence as you can gather, and he/she will determine if you have a winnable case. If you lose, you will still need to pay the attorney. If it was physical or sexual abuse, the I think you need to contact the police and the hospital admin. I'm sorry for the abuse, and wish you success in prosecuting your case.
