My parents have no money, rent their house and have very little in the bank. they only receive their ss. they are getting to the point they cant stay by themselves anymore. I have to work to support my family and cant stay home to take care of them. What am I suppose to do with them.? They were such good parents and now it is my turn to take care of them but neither of us have the money. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Find Care & Housing
Have you checked to see if they would be eligible for Medicaid assistance? I would contact your local council on Aging and see what service they can provide or if they can provide an evaluation of your parents situation. Good luck! It's nice to hear of a family that had a good relationship.

They might be eligible for SSI --check with Social Security sites. Check local or university hospitals; they may have a Senior Care Network with free help to give you some ideas. Some churches have senior advisors who you can network with.

good luck finding anything , the way things are today if you don't have much money which, I know from personal experience social security doesn't give you enough to live. and any good facility for us older people are way to expensive and that's a shame I think in 2 or 3 years we won't even be able to collect social security any more it will be non existing . I would suggest maybe getting a sitter, someone they like and someone you trust, and someone that is willing to work with your budget ! good luck and God Speed !

You can help them apply for Medicaid which might provide a few additional services. You can hire an inexpensive helper (like a retired nursing assistant) or just someone who would like to earn some money as a helper. You can check their criminal report and references there too. When my husband was unemployed, he worked for them. You can advertise for help (free) or check out the ads of those who are in your area looking for part time work.
