How to overcome elderly Mom's delusions and paranoia?

My elderly mom, who is in assisted living, suffers from delusions and paranoia. She thinks snakes are under her bed and men are in her closet that want to kill her. What factors would cause her delusions to become worse? How can we make her better, ie re-evaluate drugs she is taking, etc.?

Take her to a geriatric psychiatrist, is there one who makes visits to the facility? Has she been checked for a uti? Have you talked to her internist or gp about what's going on?
