Hi, my grandmother has a habit of taking sleeping pills at night to help her sleep. Once, she took four in a row because she couldn't fall asleep. The next day she was groggy and drowsy. She fell three times because of that. She also has diabetes issues and there have been times in the past where she has fallen/passed out due to extremely low blood sugar (from insulin shots). Anyway, we received a brochure about Life Alert and it seems like the perfect thing for her. However, I'd like to ask for your opinions and experiences with this product and if there are any other alternatives that we can consider? How much would it cost?

When we checked, Life Alert required a minimum 3 year contract, while many others are month to month. We, too, have been trying to decide on a device/system. Yet, it seems all the comparison information available is either out-of-date or biased for compensation toward a particular brand. Technology has changed significantly over the last 5 years, so it requires serious research before commiting. The salespeople for these companies are very smooth and persuasive. I would not call without a list of specific questions that are important to you and your family.
