I’m looking for a free testing resource. Paper printouts, online Q&A or other options are welcome. A quick Google search led me to many sites that require a sign up as they gather emails for sales opportunities. My dear brother is trying to assess his in laws Dementia situation. 80 yr old FIL has no medical insurance and his immigrant status will not qualify him for any benefits in Texas so my brother is on his own - just trying to understand where FIL is in the Dementia cycle.

Many thanks to you all. I will follow up on these ideas.

YouTube has great resources for this. A lot of examples of the tests and test questions and explanations. MoCa and SLUMS and others. There are also books online at Amazon. Peter Yexley has a great book, Self-Tests for Dementia. Look it up in the search bar.

At Mom's routine yearly neurologist appointment the Dr would have Mom draw a clock with the hands at 2:00 pm.

He assessed her status and decline from the clock drawing.

I think these could be helpful for your situation:

Self-Administered Gerocognitive Examination (SAGE)

This test is designed to be taken at home and then discussed with a doctor.
You can download the SAGE test directly from the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. They provide the test itself, scoring instructions, and additional information.

Mini-Cog

This is a quick, 3-minute screening tool that combines a memory test with a clock-drawing test.

Serious: Thanks so much for this resource.
It would be great if you would start a "Discussions" thread with this info. Could title it "Self-Testing for Dementia resources" and we could all add to it. It would have a longer life and more folks would see it. This is great information.
