On Medicaid, are you legally allowed to have more than 1 car if you want a second car real cheap from the junkyard?

Vegas, this is for LTC. When on Medicaid Healthcare the cap is higher. My disabled nephew is allowed to work. He has more than 2k in his Annuity acct and was just Okd for another year. It all depends on if your single, married how many kids. People receiving Medicaid for heath care work, its just even working they r under poverty level.

You can have more than one car. The point is that your nonexempt assets (1 car is exempt) cannot exceed the resource limit of $2000. That limit includes vehicles and cash and other liquid assets (bank accounts). Having extra vehicles around is not a good idea for the other reasons previously laid out.

Check with the zoning office where you live. Most jurisdictions have regulations that do not allow them or at minimum limit the number you can have. You don't need to spend money on junkers if you end up having to get rid of them. Medicaid allows only one car, maybe they would look at hobby cars differently, but I wouldn't try it. Get in hot water with your jurisdiction and Medicaid at the same time? Not for me.

Even if owning more than one car would be allowed why would you need 4 cars? Not trying to judge your desires and I suppose it’s a hobby for some.

Maybe your cousin will allow you to help him work on his cars. You will have fun with your interests in cars without violating rules and the expense involved in investing in cars.

Do you have car shows in your area? Lots of cities have really cool antique car shows, not exactly ‘junk’ cars but still fun!

I guess you r talking about healthcare? Because if ur in LTC you really don't need a car. And if Medicaid for AL, I doubt if they want junk cars on their property. Where I live, you are not allowed junk cars. They all must be registered and insurance. So you may want to check with your Township what is allowed.
