I am pursuing possible VA benefit eligibility for my father regarding long term healthcare. He served in the Marines. This might have been during the Korean War era. Looking at the forms I need information I don't have. I don't know his service number and dates served. How do I proceed with this?

There is a form to fill out that will request information they do have. I requested that specific info to find out that my Dad's records were burnt in a fire in St Louis. Call them to ask what you need to do to find out his service dates, etc.

Google VA form DD214, fill it out, make a copy for your records, and mail it in. Wait 2-3 weeks.
