Even when (or if) she runs out of her money in her retirement account, she will still have my Daddy's pension and Social Security coming in. Will we be responsible for the difference in the amount she receives vs the full amount?

Thanks!

I have called an Elder Law Attorney in our area and he charges $500.00 for the initial consultation. Mom has enough money right now to stay at home for around 10 years, barring any unforeseen things (new roof, AC, etc.) and I plan on prepaying her funeral soon.

I believe, once she's spent all of her money, Medicaid will make up the difference between her SS and pension and the monthly nursing home charge. Talk to the nursing home about how and when to start the Medicaid process. Don't make the mistake of gifting away any of her assets. Medicaid will claw them back within five years.
