My 56 year old mother has recently been seeing people in her room who she believes are there until I tell her there aren't. Just the other day she told me my brother was home when I know he wasn't I asked to speak to him and she kept calling his name but no answer obviously because he wasn't actually there but she said she could see him. The people she sees are family members or either close friends. They don't speak to her they are just in her room. My mother doesn't really go out she usually just watches tv and she doesn't have much friends so my question Is this normal ? Is it because she is mostly alone all the time that this is why she sees people ? Or should we seek medical help

Talk about this with your doctor, grandparents, school counsellor or someone else you can trust. If she becomes full blown psychotic call 911 and let the experts sort it out so she gets the help she needs.

It is not "normal" to see things that aren't there. Hallucinations are a symptom of something going wrong, so it is a very good idea to seek medical advice.

Has this been going on very long? One condition that can involve hallucinations is a urinary tract infection. You can have that at any age, but usually the strange behavior is only present in people older than your mother.

Hallucinations can be present in lots of other medical conditions.

They are not caused by spending time alone or by watching too much television.

Will your mother take your advice to have her doctor check her out? Tell her that sometimes seeing things that other people don't see is a sign of an infection or other medical problem and it is safest to try to find the cause.

I'm going to assume that your mom had you later in life and you are only 14 years old, but even at that young age you must know that most 56 year olds are working every day and leading average, normal, lucid lives.
