Oh....the vultures are circling.....it happens all the time in families and even though I know that...it still shocked me when my own sister "claimed" items right and left from our family's home when Mom passed (Pop now lives with me). It's disappointing, it hurts and it throws you for a loop. I decided to let her take whatever - it's ALL STUFF. Although she lives less than 2 hours from me & Pop since he moved in with me a year ago...I can count on one hand the number of times she's come up to see him - and even though I've asked....I get no breaks or assistance from her. BUT I feel got the real prize: I got my father living with me, and although he's nearly 91 and not the easiest person in the world....I wouldn't trade these years together for anything. She can take it all - I don't care.

Embrace what is real - the time and the love and the conversations and the closeness you had with your folks. Those things last in your heart.

yep. My sister even wanted the nursing home's TV.
I certainly had my eyes opened to her true personality when dad passed-
i think she just assumed that while I was caring for both parents that I skimmed off the top. Protect yourself and that will. If it is your house maybe get a protective order?

Suddenly they've all come to appreciate the sentimental value of things, hm? Funny how that didn't apply to the things' former owners.

When you say, they don't believe the wills...

Sorry, I'm just pausing to rub my eyes and scratch my head for a moment.

Okay. What is it, exactly, that they do not believe? Do they believe that the wills are...

forgeries?
invalid for some other reason, such as the testator's mental incapacity?
Just Not Fair?

It's a matter of whether they have a substantial legal argument or not, you see. In the interim, I couldn't agree more with Pam - lock the doors. Meanwhile, what exactly is their beef?

I hate to have to say this, but it is all too common for the vultures to come out of nowhere and loot the house. Change your locks and keep them out. Seriously, keep them out. They just don't get it.
