My 92-year-old mom complains about constant pain in lower back and legs Not saying she is not in pain but some of her friends tell me they are just in pain all the time - comes with the territory.
Brought her to pain specialist several times and he gave her those shots, but they don’t seem to work very long if at all. When she drills him on what is causing pain, he says it’s because she has been lucky enough to make 92 trips around the sun
Anyway, see those commercials on TV for Relief Factor, and am skeptical about that, but thought I would ask pain doctor. He said he has had some patients claim it worked, but overall skeptical He said if we were to try something like that, he would try something like that. Could help but will do no harm.
Anyone familiar with that or other alternative remedies? My brother thought we should try THC gummies though I am a bit skeptical of that, my cousin said she gave it to her dad, and he was a bit loopy and was afraid he could lose balance.
Or any other advice on pain, or at least how to cope with an elderly parent who is always griping about her pain?

She may want to ask her doctor to prescribe gabapentin. It worked so well for me.
It was originally used to prevent seizures, but now it's often used for nerve pain. I use it for pinched nerves and demyelated nerves in my back and legs, and it makes my life close to normal. There can be side effects, but it may be worth trying it.

A few years ago I tried several different brands of CBD tincture myself before giving it to my mom. The best brand for us (yes, I used occasionally for headaches & stress) was CURED. I found it worked well for mom's anxiety and her sciatic nerve pain.

After Colorado went recreational, we got gifted some thc ointment that did wonders for little sprains and contusions. My sister used it on her 6 yo. Later on we were gifted a cbd menthol muscle rub that was also effective.

Here in California, I’ve personally found thc chocolate and cookies to taste uniformly bad and be harder to dose than gummies, which I heartily recommend.

I used to give mom chocolate pot candy; edibles with THC and I swear to you, that was the ONLY time she did NOT complain of pain in her legs (from neuropathy). She was given all sorts of pain meds, opioids, creams, lotions, potions and remedies, but 'nothing' helped her, she claimed, including the pot candy BUT, each time she ate the candy, she had NO pain complaints so YOU tell ME if they worked or if they didn't? Having her a bit loopy was nice, too, b/c she wasn't so stressed out and anxiety ridden that she was carrying on 24/7 too. In my opinion, it was a win-win situation with the edibles which are totally legal for recreational and medical usage here in Colorado.

She also tried CBD gummies w/o THC which are useless, imo, and did nothing to help her. I would have bought the gummies with THC but her Memory Care ALF said no to that. They're fine with pumping an elder full of opioids, but NO NO NO to THC! Intelligent, isn't it? :(

The other thing that she said helped her a little bit was Penetrex cream:

She used it for a few years, rubbing it on her feet and legs, and said it did help. But I realize your mom has lower back pain, which I myself suffer from, and nothing has helped me with that except the heating pad and a back binder:

https://www.amazon.com/ITODA-Abdominal-Compression-Protection-Breathable/dp/B07H9MSTJ7

Pot chocolate edibles help me with my overall back/hip pain too, but they're something I use once in a while only.

Best of luck!

I too suffer from arthritis in my lower back. Not painful unless I do too much and Advil helps. I have a sway in my back right where the arthritis is. I have saved ur info about the brace and the chocolates. I have been told it will worsen overtime. Have not been able to stand in one place for a long time now. Think the sway doesn't help.

My mother suffers from arthritis almost everywhere in her body. We also went to a pain specialist but they couldn’t offer her any pain meds only suggested all types of holistic things like meditation or acupuncture which are not helpful for someone dealing with very debilitating pain.

I’m investigating CBD oil that she can put into her tea. I haven’t purchased it yet, trying to figure out how many milligrams would be effective. You can buy it 250 500 and even higher strengths. I think I might go with 500 strength. Unlike THC it’s not supposed to make you loopy.

That might be an option for you as well.
