Need information from nursing home. Any advice?

My Mom was placed in a Nursing home 2 weeks ago and they said that they would send me some information but I have received none. I am 3000 miles away and know nothing about what is going on with her. When I talk to her she complains about this and that... Are they allowed to do this?
