This question is in relation to my previous question I posted nearly a week ago about being my mothers caregiver and living well below poverty level and my mentally and verbally abusive father that is "now" threatening to take my mothers half of the jointly owned mortgage free home. They have been separated for almost 28 yrs. but not divorced. He gives my mother $600 a month but thinks that entitles him to come and go and enter the house as he pleases, walk through the entire house and bedrooms and verbally abuse the both of us upsetting my mother, she has heart problems and had a major heart attack 2 yrs. ago along with several mini-strokes. We cannot go on with his type of behavior and we need a lawyer rather quickly but we cannot afford one and was wondering if there are resources where we can obtain legal help for free?

Where are you located? My Brother is an attorney, owns the firm and has an elder attorney working for him. If you are on Long Island, you may be in luck.

Is there a law school anywhere near you? Call and ask them about legal aid. Also, can you report your father to the police for abusing your elderly mother?

I'm sorry you have such a horrible situation.
