If you have enough lead time, many of the outpatient services can connect you with a local medical transport....it is usually run by your local bus company, and is door to door service.

but, you have to make an application and get your doctor to sign off on it.

Also, for uber or lyft, you could set up an account with Go Go Grandparent. They do charge a bit extra, but they'll order a ride for you and you don't have to use an app.

Here's a link you can copy/paste for a Frederick County Transit Plus brochure. It's available for people over 60 and for those with disabilities. Rides to medical appointments are discounted.

I would suggest using any unfamiliar service once or twice just to go to the store or something before you have surgery.

I am assuming there aren’t neighbors or family members available to help. In my area there are eye centers that actually provide transportation for their patients but I also recognize that things are different from state to state and county to county. Perhaps you can contact Senior Services for Frederick county. Even if they can’t help directly, they may be able to refer you to an agency that can. Their number is (301)600-1234. Best wishes to you!
