Many older people start losing the desire to eat. They will state that they are not hungry, they are full, that doesn't taste right etc. When my daddy was ill with ALZ he would not eat his favorite foods like, spaghetti, steak, potatoes. I would then ask him what he wanted - he would ask for two of this, one of that, and he would state numbers. I don't know why but I just went with the flow so that he would at least eat something.
If she is refusing to eat get some protein drinks the usual favorite is chocolate because it can taste like ice cream if you put it over ice and make it very cold. Blessings to you!

The desire to eat diminishes with dementia. Just offer her things like small milkshakes, yoghurt with berries, small pb& j finger sandwiches, mini ice cream sandwiches, fruit smoothies with protein, small amounts of food that taste sweet because the taste buds lean that way now. Let her graze all day rather than eat 3 larger meals she can't handle.

Good luck to you.

Stomachs don't shrink. You should discuss this mistaken belief with your own or your wife's doctor. Stomachs, when empty are smaller, and they expand in the presence of food.
