My husband who had vascular dementia, in his final weeks on this earth had his head down all the time, and to one side. The hospice nurse tried a travel pillow, but that really didn't help much. I just figured that because he was so weak and in his dying process, that he just didn't have the strength to hold it up any more.

I also reclined his chair a bit. Think about it, your head weighs about 10 pounds and the muscles in her neck are getting weaker. So it makes sense that her head will be down, takes less effort to allow it to drop.
