And later my mom called me that she will be staying with my sister for the weekend. and i said ok, then week comes my mom called she said now shes going to stay with my sister for a period of time. and i said ok maybe my sister need the money i said fine , and on Feb 1 2023 i got a call from my fiancee in the philippines that my my mom is there, and i was shocked for i thought she is still in Las Vegas in my sisters home. and they threatened and try to kick out my fiancee out of my house in the philippines. and i told my sister no get off my property and told her you brought her there its your responsibility. i did not know of my sisters plan to take my mom to the Phillipines to die when she will be take care by me and she also has a funeral plan to be buried next to my dad. what should i do? where do i start? REGGAE808, welcome to the forum. Is your Mom a U.S. citizen receiving Social Security and Medicare?

If yes, one needs to check to see if our U.S. Medicare will pay for medical care in another country. https://www.medicareinteractive.org/get-answers/medicare-health-coverage-options/medicare-and-living-abroad/medicare-coverage-for-those-who-live-permanently-outside-the-united-states

For Social Security, here is a list of countries where SS can be mailed. https://www.ssa.gov/international/countrylist1.htm

As for your sister, if there are situations where Medicare and Social Security may be limited or not at all, is your sister ready to foot the bill?

I bet that was not considered when sister took Mom out of the country. But then maybe Mom is on a greencard and if its her country of origin, she will have no problem getting benefits there.

Go to the country where mom's living now and ask her to come back home with you?

That's all I've got.

I don't see any way you possibly could. If you were your Mom's guardian or POA you might consider seeing an elder law attorney, but I can't imagine how this would work.

Your profile says Mom lives at home. Does she have Dementia? Do you have POA? Guardianship? Do u live with her?

Mom had to have a passport to get out of the States. Is this to be permanent or just a visit?

I don't know what you can do if you don't have legal guardianship. Sister has just as much right to Mom as u do. Mom, dementia or not, went with her willingly. Even POA does not give you rights. Government agencies do not recognize POA.

JoAnn, you only need a passport to get back in the country at the southern border. You can just enter Mexico without going through any checkpoints or presenting ID.

Don't know about the northern border.
