Mom 83 has dementia, her short term memory is bad, but she still knows everyone and gets around good. My sister took her home from the hospital after UTI until she got her strength back. I live across the street from her and have been taking care of her. She was there for less than two weeks, my sister, changed her address, bank account, where she gets her medicine. There are 5 siblings but she did this with out talking to anyone. It was supposed to be temporary, now she is controling moms every move. We did take her out some at first, but now she makes excuses why she can't go. If we go to visit, my sister is just hateful. She screams at my mother if she wants to go. This started in April, and we have hard time seeing or talking to her. She does not want her to go back home, I have talked to a lot of people, but really haven't had any help. What should I do?

Find Care & Housing
Your sister must have a Power of Attorney in order to have acted on her behalf regarding her finances. Have you seen the document? Is your mother competent to revoke the one for that daughter and appoint someone else? Regardless, the screaming needs to go. No way, that would be okay with me. I'd seek a consult with an Elder Law attorney about matters to see what can be done legally. Even if sister has a signed POA, a court can override that with the appointment of a Guardian, if deemed appropriate.

She doesn't have POA but she had my mother with her at the bank and changing address, mom goes along with whatever she wants her to do, but she dosn't remember 5 minutes later. I know this is not right, but everyone I've talk to says, she's being taken care of so it's not abuse. I'm not giving up. I want her away from my sister.

Did a doctor diagnose your mother with dementia? If a doctor did, your sister may be in a lot of trouble. If a doctor did not, it's going to be your word against hers. You should seek legal counsel to give you your options and how much it's going to cost.

If you mom has dementia , file a petition with the court to have you mom interdicted.
It's the best thing I've done since my mom's been blind and been diagnosed with demetria. Having your mom interdicted will allow you a voice in the decision making concering your mom. When you file the petition, make sure you file to have you and /or one of you sibilings as Curator and Under Curator.
Not much you can do to get your mom "away" from your sister unless you can prove your sister is a danger to your mom. Every child have rights to enjoy a loving, affectionate relationship with their parent.
Good luck!!
