My sister received a settlement from an accident & wants the money in her family's account without jeopardizing her medicaid. Can she?

My sister lives in Hud housing, has very little money. She was hit by a car a couple of years ago and was hospitalized for a time and also had to go to a nursing home for rehab before she could come home. The case was settled and because she hasn't gotten adequate information about the pooled trust in Tallahassee or putting the money in her family's name or other options, she hasn't been able to make a decision about what to do. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Vicky

I would ask a lawyer about this. Medicaid law is very complicated and I think it's best to make sure this is done right. She doesn't want to be accused of fraud, yet she wants to protect these assets if she can. Please have her seek legal help. The State Bar Association in her state may be able to get her free help.
