Find Care & Housing
My mom went to assisted living respite room after rehab cause she still needed care with meds/insulin. That was December. She is still there and I’m glad she is but she can’t leave until Covid-19 curve passes, if even then due to her medical issues. My concern for you is if you could even get a patient admitted to assisted living during this outbreak.

Have you had a meeting with her care team and social worker on her progress yet? When my mom was in rehab they told me from day one that a meeting would take place to discuss mom’s well being prior to being released.

Care isn’t usually over when rehab is over. Then home health is scheduled to continue the healing. So, that has to be considered too. Home health is covered by insurance.

You have concerns that need to be discussed with her primary doctor and her care team at rehab, including the social worker. In my mom’s case, the social worker is the person that led the meeting.

My mom was not quite ready to be released from rehab so she stayed a couple of extra days but she did have to pay for those days. Insurance only pays for the specified amount of days allowed even if a patient isn’t quite ready to be sent home.

Do you know if insurance companies are making allowances due to the virus? I have no idea if they are. Call and inquire.

Best wishes to you and your mom.

What does the doctor say?

Will her insurance pay if she doesn't come home?

Those would be the 1st 2 questions that I would get answered before deciding anything.
