I work at a bank and I know you have to have identification to open accounts. I’m so lost…

So why can't the facility become her payee? My Mom's LTC was her's. This way you don't have to worry about writing a check every month. They will set up their own account for Mom in their system. No bank involved. Payees have to report to SS how the money is spent. I was the POA and one less responsibility I had. The LTC was payee for Moms pension too. They will set up her personal needs account depositing a small amount from her SS Medicaid allows. States vary in the amount, my State its $50 monthly.

I’m going to try that…ty…that’s what I thought her nursing home was doing but found out they opened an account and made themselves the recipient of the direct deposit.

So I am the medical poa. I would not know how to even be the durable poa. She is in her right mind. Her check was going to an account set up by her shady nursing home that she does not remember and I don’t have a clue about. I thought they were the rep payee until the ssa guy told me about this account. DMV will do for home bound but I would have to send them to the ltac and I would most likely not be present. I don’t know if dmv goes to medical facilities for id cards…

No the DMV is not staffed to send people to homes or facilities to get id set up.

Are you not her POA? You can open an account with yourself as the POA and as signee for all the account. What advice did SS give you when you went to be Rep Payee?
I would contact whomever is in charge of license and ID--your local DMV and find out how to get a license (you as POA) changed to ID without being able to do the photo, given she is in care.
I really don't know what to advise you.
Where was her SS going prior to this? What account? And what happened to that account?
