Find Care & Housing
Are you saying she falls asleep and stays asleep, or dozes off then wakes up? I'm asking because if she's just "dozing off" briefly she could have vasovagal syncope, which happens to my MIL, and occurs in the elderly while on the potty. Their blood pressure drops suddenly when urinating or defecating and they literally faint for a moment. MIL's facility stopped having her get up to use the bathroom due to the fall risk. Just fyi in case this may be what's happening with your mom.

Your profile and your question say nothing about whether mom lives alone or in a facility or what her issues are. Your topics are both “home care” and “Assisted Living”. So, it’s a little confusing.

Falling asleep on the toilet can be dangerous. She could literally fall off. If she is on any sleep meds, her doctor will take her off them.

She needs supervision every time she uses the toilet. Someone needs to accompany her.
