Find Care & Housing
Yes, same predicament I have as well, my mom keeps harping about her eyes as well, it's like they don't hear when the doctors say it won't get better. They were checking my mom for the bleeding as well, but it just stabilized so there is nothing to do. She wanted to start the rounds again, but even the medical profession gets fed up with dementia patients and makes them start at the beginning again. I told my mom that the doctor's are not going to do anything more. I told her to just take her vitamins and not stress her eyes. That's all you can do. I know they don't like it, but at that age it's tough for them to really get a handle on reality. I would just try to go with the flow the best you can.

My Mom will not accept the fact that her eyes will never get better. Her eyesight will not improve and may get worse. She does goes to eye specialist for injections into her eyes to control the bleeding. She does have a magnifying board to lay over things so she can read better.

She did have caderat surgery to remove caderates but then the magular degeneration was revealed.

Suzie I went through that entire fiasco over 2 years ago when my mom's eyesight was getting worse and finally I took her to my eye doc and sure enough, no lens could help correct her vision. And then we went from doc to doc to retina specialist all to come to find out the same and glaucoma, and she did not want to get the surgery. So now I have her 1/2 playing blind and 1/2 the time she can see...see she plays me like that. So can you elaborate her "insistence"?
