She has a glaze and glare. Not to mention is loosing her balance continuously. Will that continue. I notice short term memory is bad yet long term is ok. Will that change too. What are signs that should expect to happen soon.
It sounds as if the eye condition is probably separate from the dementia, but may make its symptoms worse. In any case a visit to an eye doctor soon seems like what needs to happen.
Also: if she does have cataracts that are that visible, her vision is seriously affected, and that alone could explain balance problems and falling. In my opinion (as someone who has had cataract surgery), it would be worth a fair amount of short-term trouble (like supervising her use of the eye drops prescribed post-surgery) for her to have at least one eye operated on.
Given that you'd hope she can have the best level of functioning possible, even if that only means being able to enjoy watching tv, I think it's really important to see that her vision is preserved.

Sounds like you've described cataracts. Cataracts are very common in the elderly and there is a treatment, but she has to be compliant with the procedure and the rigorous after-care. I believe the surgery is covered by Medicare.

Yours is not a crazy question btw, sudden health changes & infections can show in the eyes.
