Can’t get anyone to call us back/return emails. She is 80 years old with about 17 diagnoses. She is in stage 3 renal failure due to diabetes, Afib, CHF, severe spinal stenosis, neuropathy to name a few. She has excruciating pain and they delay her pain meds. Since covid they have moved her rooms 2 times. Her mental health has declined tremendously. She was mobile somewhat but now not. They have not let her peak her head out the door without screaming at her to close the door. She’s been out of her room for therapy but they cancelled that. It is near totally impossible to get anyone to answer the phone especially on weekends. The doctor will not return our calls.

Cfornea, I feel your distress...my family just went through that here in MN with my MIL. Her LTC facility shut down tight in mid March. Had 3 FaceTime video calls and then the virus got into the facility at the beginning of May, first the employees and then the residents. MIL was very sick for 4 weeks and during that time she was moved to a covid designated first floor to enable window visits. The facility had multiple staff out at once (and were gone for 2 weeks each for quarantine). The staff was running around with their hair on fire dealing with the residents, the covid residents, and the distressed family members all while short-staffed. At one point they had 1 nurse for 16 covid patients. It is now July 1 and we STILL have yet to see my MIL in person, even though she completely recovered from covid. Your frustration is totally justified but there is not much the facilities can do. They will return your call when they themselves know what is going on and have the time. I suggest you leave very supportive, respectful voice messages and they may call you back sooner. Other than showing up in person (and even then they won't let you in) I don't know what else to suggest except patience. I wish you peace in your heart as you wait for word on your MIL.
