You have to be careful, because she can be denied things like HEAP and SNAP based on household income.
Any home care she needs would be ordered by a doctor or through her caseworker.
If she is selling her house, the proceeds from the sale would be considered income. That sudden increase would stop her Medicaid benefits.

Why don't you contact the Medicaid office in your city and ask them what the requirements are? Each state has specific requirements.

Have your local Social Services case worker com to the house and they will walk you through it. My Ma is living with us. Yes they needed Household Income. Ma only got SS, but they also included my husband's along with mine. Then they minused it out. It was how our state does the form. You need to see how your state handles income. My Ma qualified for SNAP after all was said and done. I make sure all her needs are purchased separately. Hope this helps.

If you have a separate living quarter for your mother and you live in a house and she has her own things such a appliances and a room that is able to say her living is not joint then you can''t count her income as apart and that you have agreement in writing that you are a caretaker but you are the live in aide. And place all her finances and money not in a account of yours but as POA you can say that she has agrees not to be on your taxes. This way she is independent living and her money is use on her. Hope this helps Her address is apt 1 and own mail box posted.

Best advice I received years ago: Work with an elder affairs lawyer, get all estate and powers of attorney, assets defined, learn about frail elder programs, CYA.

Having assets in joint ownership and be a big PIA later on. Keep written records,

To locate a State and/or Area Agency on Aging (AAA) start by clicking the state on the map below or select the state from the drop down list. After the State Agency on Aging information is displayed you will be prompted to search for the local AAA.

If your mom sells her home, it could qualify as a win-fall (I believe that's what it is called). Money comes in and in the same month the money goes out. You do have to notify your Medicaid office, and if also depends on the state you live in.
