Gladimhere: Shirley has asked 23 questions about her husband and what she should do with him/about him since November of 2019. She's gotten answers to ALL of her questions which I wonder if she has read any of?

Shirley, if you are out there reading all of these comments, please let us know why you took your husband home from rehab/nursing care to begin with? How do you expect to care for him?

Shirley people on this site have continually responded to your questions. Why do you always ask "please answer me?". The solution to all of your problems is facility living. You had that just a short time ago and let it go.

Maybe you should find a male caregiver to assist him with a shower. From what you have told us, you would not be physically able.

Someone may have already made this suggestion but you can order a smaller walker from Amazaon that will work for smaller door openings. I had to get one for my Mom.

I suggest you call his doctor and get "in home" in your house to evaluate him for more physical therapy. It may help with his balance. They can also evaluate your bathroom to see what is needed to help him. Maybe a shower chair. A tub bar to help him get in and out. Maybe a toilet riser. Or even a commode placed over the toilet so it gives him arms to help steady himself when he stands.

When it comes to Dementia, I remember you saying that white matter was found on the MRI. This means there is some Dementia. You should follow this up witha Neurologist.

There is nothing wrong with you coming here asking questions but you really need help for you. If you have any family, ask them to help you negotiate all that is going on. Maybe go with u when u go to the doctors and listen in. Help you find someone to ask this questions and help u get the answers.

You really need to call your office of aging. They may have resources you can take advantage of. You need some kind of support system.

I'm guessing that his walker does fit in the bathroom, he may just have to go in sideways with it. I also would make sure that you have a shower bench or chair in his shower so he can sit while taking one and not worry about falling. Also add some grab bars to the shower walls, and a nonslip shower mat.
You can also request that a physical therapist comes to your home to work with him on his balance. That should help him as well.
Only his doctor can answer whether or not he may have dementia. You may want to schedule an appointment with his neurologist. Best wishes.

Did you speak to the social worker like we suggested you do in your other posts on this subject Shirley? Why did you bring your husband home? Now that he is home with you again, you may find you cannot care for him properly and that he MUST go back to the nursing home. If he 'takes advantage of you' at night and hurts you in any way, call 911 right away. He may have dementia, we on a forum cannot answer such a question; what did the doctor tell you when they released him from rehab?

Good luck.
