PC prescribed Seroquel for agitation and aggression but only 25 mg. I've read that seroquel doesn't show much effect until dosage of 200 mg is reached. I asked for his dosage to be increased from 25 mg but the doctor ignored my request. Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm exhausted and he talks non-stop so I can't get any rest.
Sorry you are in such a bad spot.
Have him transported to care so that his medications can be adjusted adequately at the least, and discuss with Social Workers a need for placement for him.
Meanwhile consult an attorney about division of assets to protect your own assets in the marriage.
It is time now for placement.
No caregiver should be in a situation that endangers him or her.
You should NOT be tolerating any abuse from your husband dementia or not, and might need to call 911 next time he acts out.
That way he can be transferred to the ER and from there can be placed in a facility when you let them know that you can no longer care for him at home.
You need to be taking care of yourself so you are not in the 40% of caregivers that will die before the one they're caring for with dementia from stress related issues.
It's now time to do what is best for both you and your husband.
