Part of qualifying for and Attendance benefits is a need for help with ADLs. If you move to IL, it suggests you no longer need help with ADLs. Call your VA office representative to find out for sure.

"Medical Foster Homes are private residences where the caregiver and relief caregivers provide care and supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This caregiver can help the Veteran carry out activities of daily living, such as bathing and getting dressed. VA ensures that the caregiver is well trained to provide VA planned care. While living in a Medical Foster Home, Veterans receive Home Based Primary Care."

On this forum we call this type of living situation a board and care. From what I read, you are living there because you need help with daily living. An independent community does not provide the services you get where you are. And they are costly. Some you need the money to buy into the Community which could be 200k or more . My Aunt is in one where they live in a cottage independently. They then can transition to an AL (Assisted living) and then LTC (longterm care).

You need to talk to a VA social worker. I know Aid and Attendance has an income limit. I really don't think you can afford to live independantly and get the services you need.

I think it's best to ask the VA this question. (I realize that there might be long waiting times on the phone or by email.) https://www.va.gov/contact-us/

I agree with Rose. This is for discussion with your social workers involved in your specific case; they know you, your benefits and your needs. Best of luck.
