My grandmother is in the hospital and likely going into a nursing home, are the joint accounts we share in jeopardy?

We share two bank accounts, in both names with the "or", so either can access the funds individually. Can I take half of the money out before we apply for medicaid for her? She has lived with me for 15 years. Half of this money is mine and the other half is hers.

You can take the money as long as you can prove that you contributed that amount to the account. If the accounts are in both of your names, but she was the only one making deposits, Medicaid will consider all of the money hers. Just be sure you can back up what you contributed to the account for any amount that you take out.
