Find Care & Housing
Lovely, the VA requirements are very complex. I would first research to determine if there's a local/county VA office in your area, call or visit them and ask what options your mother has. Find your father's DD214, an essential element to the VA process.

Some states also have VA offices which offer good help. And you can always contact the VA, but it's easier to start with a local office. American Legion and VFW also offer help and guidance.

First, did Dad ever file any type of claim with the VA? If not, you need to gather info & WW2 era vets don't have DD214's. You just need to find their discharge papers. If you don't have a copy, it can be requested through the website. Then meet with the VA folks along with a death AND marriage certificate or call the VA 800#. There is lots of good info on the internet
