Well guys, I know its been a couple of years or so since I've posted the experience I underwent when I found out that, after moving away from her, my dear mom was threatened and robbed of her assets. I tried to have the DA's office there help me and then the FBI, but as for my poor mom, she would not talk or say who was involved in her getting threatened and then robbed, but since then she's given me clues.

The FBI also stated that I immediately have everything she had of property changed to my name. Had a lot of help.. I found this out back in 2014. Very depressed then, but now have DPOA and handle all my mom's affairs. I know some of you would see what I would post then, and even called me "a troll" or something like that, when I was only trying to se how I could find out who had done this to my mom. She told me that certain people would demand money or it would be her life or mine. That leads me to believe this was some organized group, dangerous and only can pursue who they are only with extreme help from the FBI and and a defense group. Sad to say my mom couldn't say anything but I did what you all told me here then....secure what she has ASAP. Any other recommendations ?

Is there a chance that her understanding of the situation is affected by her dementia?

yes even her pop doctor is recommending for her to see a neurologist...working on this.I dont know as to how much damage did these clandestine people did to her when they threatened her, but yes working on this. She's had other larger issues that needed to be taken care of so it's taken time to get her to see a neurologist....

Could your mother relocate to where you are? That may prove to be the safest move she could make as those people wouldn’t be likely to be able to find her.
If she owns a home maybe she would sell and use the money for a new place to live.
Curious, how far away are you from her? If very far in the time it takes for you to view video and make arrangements to be with her, it may be too late.
So the FBI were never able to trace any of her transactions to anyone? That’s unusual. Granted your mother was not forthcoming with names, etc, but law enforcement have resources at their disposal with long tendrils and access to financial transfers.
Were the FBI ok with your decision to let your mother remain in her home alone? I would think if the FBI determines she was a vulnerable adult did they ever discuss getting guardianship over her to place her somewhere to protect her until you could retrieve her?
Local police have resources as well - they have divisions that investigate elder abuse.
I just wish this situation works out for the both of you.
Withdrawals from financial institutions leave paper trails. I can’t even cash a check that has my husband’s name on it and I’m his wife! I can deposit it but not get cash.
How old is your mom? Does she live alone in her own house?
I would try to get her to me unless she has friends and other family members she hangs out with that are keeping her there. These folks, if they exist, aren’t looking out for her sufficiently if they didn’t realize she was being robbed.

I don’t think the FBI was involved.

all of the things the OP said she was going to do 2 years ago, she didn’t do.

mom also has dementia.

Any camera that does not require internet would just be a recording one. To access the feed by your phone you would need to have web enabled cameras.

A security system company could help you to install them, if you do not have the skills to do it yourself.

However, if you are concerned that your mother is still at risk, why is she living on her own? Wouldn't assisted living be safer for her?

I think a mental health evaluation would be a good idea.

Yes I've scheduled appts with a neurologist as well. This has taken time to do in that there were other health problems which needed attention. And I've coordinated with all those issues and still .But yes that's in the works.Ijust dont know as to how or what tactics did these people who prayed on my moms to threaten my mom.Eventually I'll be retransferring to the state she lives in.That is in the works as well. But its a challenge....a huge challenge. But yes I'm moving back.

Yes I found out about this back in 2014,and have been trying to fit any available pieces together to make some sense. My mom will not cooperate with me nor any law enforcement. An I would just imagine how and in what way she might of been threatened for she not to say a word.I felt so so sad when I found this out.I had t relocate because of work. These people seem to notice that Im on their trail,I would think.Nothing noticeable has happened since i went gungho with the investigation. But like the FBI said, if she doesn't say anything, nothing else to do but protect whatever she has, and Ive done that. But just as anything requiring investigation is concerned,I'm hoping that I can redirect the FBI with what happened.

Strange situation - You say the FBI was involved, but they couldn't trace her phone calls or observe her visitors?  Did you have her phone # changed and unpublished?  Are these people coming to her home and who lets them in?  Did she receive these threats through the mail?  Inform the Post Office and have suspicious mail returned to sender - unopened.  What about her local police?  That's the first place I would go.  Something's missing here.

what was missing was that my mom has not cooperated with either the DA's office nor the FBI as to who did this to her.And there I am trying to pick up pieces here and there, trying to make sense from all this. She will not tell me who did this to her or as she said once in an undercut way, that if she told me and these perpetrators found out that she told me, that it would either be my life or hers that they would end.

Not sure about your situation exactly. But, I think, take no (well you know what) from anyone. Protect her, whatever that takes. And whoever you have to go to in order to make that happen.

thank you.I'm looking at cameras that dont require internet so I can see her in her place.I intend to do this because those malicious people who threatened her already know where she lives.
