We are going to be gone from Thursday June 13th and come home on Tuesday June 18th. Dad would just need assistance being put on the access bus on Friday and Monday because he goes to dialysis. Mom just needs to have somebody there with her and of course their meals and pills. I'm just about at my wits end. We tried to get them into SouthField and apparently they do not have enough staff to help them?!?!?! They can both walk, Dad with a cane or wheelchair. Showers would be given before we left. Any suggestions or offers would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Have you called your local home care agencies?

Not sure what offers you will get since this forum consists of people from all over the US, Canada, UK, etc.😊

Call your Office of Aging see if they can refer anyone. Look in the yellow pages for homecare agencies and see who they have available. It won't be cheap. Did u check with an AL and NHs in the area for respite.

Some states have a program for respite care you might check your states Agency on Aging. Many AL facilities have respite that they use to as a tester or for "selling" their services, you could give a few in your area a call to see if that might be available.

Just an FYI - booking respite care in a facility isn't a last minute thing, for the summer especially people have been known to book 6 months or more ahead.
