Find Care & Housing
I recommend you spend some time reading about caregiver burn out on this website and think hard before you sign up for this job. For a lot of us, it's a night mare. We do it because we don't have a better choice. Given the option, I would not volunteer for it again.

Of course you can get paid, but it would be by them. No government agencies will pay you, if that's what you mean. I personally would caution being an aide. It crosses the line between being a family member, and instead being a care giver. Being a care giver means you give up a lot of your life for that person. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, and every situation is different. It's just my experience. I started out being my dad's caregiver, and soon realized it was creating an unhealthy situation. He is now in an assisted living facility, per doctor's orders.

Pvees, can your Dad's girlfriend afford to pay you as her caregiver? Please note that the vast majority of caregivers do not get paid... unless the love on can pay from their own savings.

I see from your profile that your Dad's girlfriend has mobility issues? Is she able to move about the house on her own using a walker? Can she dress herself? Cook or feed herself? Etc. Otherwise if she is able to still do for herself, she wouldn't qualify for a nursing home. Depending on her savings, she might to well at Assisted Living if she can budget the amount.

Is there some reason your Dad unable to help her? Or would you be taking care of both of them?
