My 95 yr old Dad isn't very mobile and has to be helped to his wheelchair, bed, potty m, ect.

He has Very Short Term Memory and just had a Catheter put in 5 months ago and he constantly has to be told what it is and to leave it alone.

3 weeks ago he started masturbating all the time and making the Catheter not work properly to drain his urine.

He has very short term memory and can't remember from 5 min to stop messing with it and leave it alone.

Caregivers are getting quiet upset from the masturbating and one has quit.

I do not want his hands to be tied.

Please help with any suggestions.

Thank you

This is one of the reasons that I could not use a condom catheter with/for my Husband because I just knew that he would "fiddle" with it.
If possible a condom catheter might be easier than the Foley as it is external and if it is moved or removed it is fairly easy to replace.
Caregivers that have experience with dementia patients should not be upset or quitting when the person they are caring for masturbates or makes comments to the caregiver. This is common with some dementia and they should know this. Yes it might be upsetting but they can learn to deal. Place a sheet or throw over the person and ignore it.
When you hire, or if it is through an agency this should be noted so if there is a possibility that it might offend someone they would not assign that caregiver to you.

What about dressing him in anti strip clothing:

it's hard to mess with what you can't get to.
