If I moved to an assisted living community now and I'm on a Medicare Advantage plan, am I allowed to change it to be able to see the in-facility doctor?

Depends on the region where you live. Contact your Medicare Advantage Care plan.

I am really suspicious of advantage plans. I attended a seminar recently. One of the presenters made the statement, “Remember, Medicare pays!” It left an impression on me.

My mother had a Medicare Advantage plan which DID pay for the in house doctor in Assisted Living. Check with the doctor at your AL to see if they accept your insurance plan.

On Medicare you can see any doctor who accepts Medicare as payment. BUT Advantage plans can control who you ultimately are able to see. Since advantage plans vary by state you will need to call up you plan's member help line and ask. THis is a global forum and you don't say what state you live in or which advantage plan you have.
