We moved mom in with us and feel that she is often bored. Any ideas to occupy her time?

Can you find some headphones for her so she can listen to music, TV or audio books? That'd be what I'd do.

My Mom, who was in her 90's, also had macular degeneration thus could hardly see, and her hearing was almost gone. Oh, severe arthritis in her hands.

Mom and Dad still lived on their own, and Mom was able to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She could still do laundry and do some dusting [she couldn't see the dust very well, but the dusting was good enough for her], so that kept her busy. My Mom did nap a lot, because being at her age she got tired quickly.

So, unless Mom really dislikes housekeeing, hand her a Swifter cloth and ask if she would like to dust the table tops. She could still do that using her walker.

Is it possible that she could go out to the senior's centre or an adult day care a couple of times a week? Being around others her age and amongst the hustle and bustle would give her something new to think about, even if she can't always take part in all the activities. My grandmother was an avid crafter and could still crochet by feel, but she still had enough eyesight to be able to check her work under magnification. She was also a people person and would often volunteer at the nearby community centre to help wash dishes, at her local seniors meetings she enjoyed playing dominoes and playing cards (special sets designed for the visually impaired). She even tried shuffleboard, although she couldn't really see what she was doing!

Good suggestions. I do try to find short comedy sketches or podcasts that she'll listen to for a while, but she gets tired quickly. I am going to look into the daycare idea.. I don't think she'll want to dust but today was lovely out so we just sat on the back patio and chatted and watched the birds. One day at a time, right? thanks so much for responding.
