My mother does not know anything about it... at least that is what she is saying... I am concerned that there will be no money left for her care... in the future... what can I do to legally protect her? I know I can a legal power of attorney but is there anything else that can be done to protect her rights? I have some concerns that he is not putting her health first before his own personal needs. I have witnessed on several occasions certain behavior that he has exhibited towards her? What can I do...she lives in the state of Louisiana. Can anyone help.

Find Care & Housing
If he thinks he can pull out all the money and then dump her in a nursing home on Medicaid, he is in for a rude surprise. The feds look back five years and ask for proof of where all the assets went.

Dear Cathy,

I'm so sorry to hear what is happening. It is a major concern, when fraud is suspected and its a lot worse from a family member. I would contact Adult Protective Services to explore all your options.
